Hidden on a flank of the mountain on the eastern side of the Noguera Pallaresa river are the remains of the medieval monastery of Sant Pere del Burgal, with hermits’ cells carved into the rock. Much mystery still shrouds the growth and decline of the monastery in this hallowed place. There are fragments of Romanesque frescoes in the partly restored interior.
