Miradors - Valls d’Àneu
A wooden viewing tower acts as a look-out over the majestic glaciated valley of Esterri d’Àneu and the extensive wetlands of Escalarre, where a great variety of resident and migratory birds are to be seen through the different seasons of the year.
The hidden valley of Baiasca harbours intriguing villages and buildings of great beauty, such as this Romanesque hermitage church, from which there are views of the woods and fields that once sustained the many people who lived in Arestui and Baiasca, of whom few remain.
Hidden on a flank of the mountain on the eastern side of the Noguera Pallaresa river are the remains of the medieval monastery of Sant Pere del Burgal, with hermits’ cells carved into the rock. Much mystery still shrouds the growth and decline of the monastery in this hallowed place.
